Page alignment enforces some uniformity in a collection of pages. First the page content will be detected and then a page alignment template applied to the (output) image. The template contains settings for margins, focus of interest and exception (error) conditions. The aligned pages will usually have good front to back registration. although they are not exactly the same thing.
